The HARVEST RAIN THEATRE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM is your doorway to a successful career in the entertainment industry.
This year long course seeks to immerse talented emerging artists in the daily life of one of Australia's largest musical theatre company. The program is designed to produce artists who are “triple threats”, proficient in the disciplines of singing, acting and dancing, and fully equipped to enter the entertainment industry as professional performers.

WHAT DOES THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM OFFER? | |

Being a part of the Internship Program is an inspiring and all-consuming experience. By immersing the interns in the day to day activities of the theatre company while also providing them with daily theatre training, the Internship provides interns with the skills and experience required to engage in professional theatre practice.

WHAT SORT OF TRAINING DOES THE INTERNSHIPS PROVIDE? | |
The Theatre Internship Program offers weekly classes in Acting skills, Vocal skills, Music skills, Dance skills, History of Theatre, Dramatic Literature, Audition Technique and Fitness & Stamina As well as these group classes, all interns are offered a private weekly singing lesson with a qualified singing teacher.
The Internship course centres on a three day per week program, so that interns have time to establish employment outside of the course to help support themselves and begin their careers.
The course runs each week on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to 5pm.

A team of industry professionals are responsible for training the interns, under the guidance of Harvest Rain's Artistic Director, Tim O'Connor.
Working with guest artists and leading industry practitioners throughout the year allows the interns to learn from some of Australia's most esteemed and experienced performers and facilitates the transition from student to professional life in the industry. In the past, interns have had the opportunity to learn from theatre practitioners such as Shoshana Bean, Marina Prior, Sharon Millerchip, Mitchell Butel, Luke Kennedy, Angela Harding, Helen Howard, Jarrod Carland, Michael Futcher, Bryan Probets, Leisa Barry-Smith, Terri Brabon, Simon Ratcliffe, Naomi Price, Liam McIllwain, Callum Mansfield, Leah Johnson, Nerida Jaaniste, Joanna Ratcliffe, Sarah McIntosh, Michael Falzon, Catarina Hebbard, and many others.

WHAT PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCES ARE OFFERED? | |
Through-out the year, the interns are not only involved in daily training but are also given the opportunity to work with some of Australia's most respected theatre technicians to present a number of major theatrical productions.
They are also given the opportunity to be seconded to a Harvest Rain main-house production at QPAC in both on stage and off stage roles, being mentored by experienced professionals currently working in the industry so that they may learn the complete theatrical production process.
The Internship Program culminates in a showcase performance where Interns are introduced to agents, directors and industry professionals.

WHAT INDUSTRY EXPERIENCES ARE OFFERED? | |
Throughout the year, the interns attend a range of local productions as well as receive seminars and workshops from a range of visiting artists (performers, directors, producers, agents) from across Australia.
In the past, interns have taken interstate trips to see performances and connect with high profile artists in other cities as part of the course.
In 2010, interns who have completed the first year of the course and stayed on for the second extension year have the opportunity to work with international musical theatre stars like Shoshana Bean and others who Harvest Rain bring to Australia to work exclusively with the interns.

HOW MUCH DOES THE INTERNSHIP COST? | |
The total cost of the Internship in 2011 is $8,500 for one year.
A $2,000 non-refundable deposit is payable in December 2010 to secure your position in the course, with the remainder either as a lump sum in January 2011 or weekly installments of $150 throughout the year. This cost covers all expenses in relation to training and performance as part of the Internship.
This cost does not cover the cost of travel to and from daily classes, the purchase of appropriate training attire (eg. Dance shoes) or any text/vocal books that are required.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR AN INTERNSHIP? | |
Applicants must have completed Year 12 to be eligible to apply (current interns range in age between 17 and 40 years of age and include graduate and postgraduate students as well as high school leavers)
The one year internship will commence in late January and continue through until late November.

Applications must include a current resume listing previous training or experience and a 500 word personal statement outlining what you hope to achieve as an intern and your expectations and aspirations for your professional life after the internship.
Successful applicants will be asked to undergo an audition/interview during which they will be given five minutes to impress the audition panel. Auditions will take place on Saturday 9th October 2010 at the Mina Parade Warehouse.
