SHAUN KOHLMAN

Shaun attended his first musical at the age of 9. That night he realized there was something special about musical theatre and from that day on he has endeavoured to find out what that ‘something’ was.

Shaun started his voice studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music at the age of 15, where he studied under the direction of Scott Harrison, Irene Bartlett, Nicholas Hollamby and Jason Barry-Smith. He has participated in numerous amateur productions and choirs across Brisbane.
This came to a head when Shaun was cast in Harvest Rain’s MAD youth production of Disney’s HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL. Since then, he hasn’t looked back - studying a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Theatre at Griffith University, while participating in Channel 7’s Battle of the Choirs. 2008 was a huge year for Shaun, but nothing compared to the year that was to come…
2009 saw Shaun accepted into the Internship program with Harvest Rain Theatre Company. This course saw him through shows such as REFUGEE 3 (Emanuel), THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE (Lavrenti, Nephew, Soloist), THE LORD MAYOR’S NEW WORKS FESTIVAL and most notably URINETOWN (Bobby Strong). Outside the Internship, Shaun has performed in two seasons of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT (Booth singer), he also played the leading role in the development of THE FORTITUDE PROJECT with the Queensland Arts Council and the RNA show. Shaun is currently a performer with Zest Factor Entertainment, performing in children’s theatre across Brisbane – he will next be playing the role of Hook in PAN’S ADVENTURES.

Shaun looks forward to honing his skills during his final year of the Internship and he is incredibly grateful to Harvest Rain for this amazing opportunity.
