The largest production of HAIRSPRAY ever staged in the world will open in Brisbane in April 2016 before heading to Newcastle in July 2016, and Harvest Rain has brought together a top notch cast to bring 1960's Baltimore to life! Directed and choreographed by Callum Mansfield, this big fat arena spectacular stars beloved musical theatre star and long time host of Playschool, Simon Burke as Edna Turnblad.
Aria Award winning singer Christine Anu will take on the role of Motormouth Maybelle while star of Home & Away and House Husbands, Tim Campbell, will play Corny Collins and Wayne Scott Kermond will play Wilbur Turnblad, fresh from his critically aclaimed performance in the national tour of Anything Goes.
The coveted role of Tracy Turnblad will be played by Lauren McKenna, following her star turn in Heathers at the Hayes Theatre in Sydney.
Dan Venz will play the role of Link Larkin, Stacey de Waard will fill the shoes of Amber Von Tussle, Penny Pingleton will be played by Emily Monsma and Vidya Makan will bring the role of Little Inez to life.
Steven Bishop, Monique Dawes, Mason Hayward, Libby Hendrie, Chris Kellett, Mark Stefanoff, Courtney Underhill and Natasha Walker will also join the cast, with a number of performers still to be announced in the coming weeks.
In Brisbane, the professional cast will be joined on stage by over 800 performers from across South-East Queensland who make up the mass ensemble for the show.
